French WWII Colonial Troops Coup-Coup Machete & Sheath

Original era manufacture. A very clean example with its original leather sheath. Polished steel blade measuring 14 inches in length with simple wooden slab grips. Folded and sewn russet leather sheath with a brass securing stud. At one time there were copper rivets in the scabbard body, for some reason these have been removed.The blade is free of pitting, but does show staining from age and cleaned surface corrosion. The cutting edge is quite sharp, and intelligently sharpened. The wooden grips are free of cracks, or chips, are a bit loose, but interestingly the original owner carved a finger groove into the left grip plate, to enable him to more securely grip the weapon in hand.
