Original German Oilcloth Identification and Weapon Permit

Sold
$249.00

Description

Two original oilcloth documents, Ausweis (Identification) and Waffenbescheinigung (weapons permit), from the same man Gottlieb Wilkening who was a building inspector in Hannover. Ausweis is dated 1944 and the Waffenbescheinigung is dated 1940. Both are in reasonably good condition. The ink has bled through on the Ausweis. The Waffenbescheinigung is interesting as it is sort of a conceal carry license and is not something that comes up often. It authorizes him to carry firearms on all occasions directly or indirectly related to his duties, in particular on all trips within his area of responsibility. It was issued by a regional waterways authority.I assume the Waffenbescheinigung must a a fairly rare document as I have never seen one before and I was not able to find any information about it online.
