WW2 Auxiliary Fire Service First Issue Sterling Silver AFS Numbered Badge

A scarce original early wartime FIRST ISSUE 'Auxiliary Fire Service silver and enamel lapel badge', the reverse impressed 'STERLING SILVER' and impressed with official issue number '128813'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel.Height approx 30mm.Designed by Mr Paget of the Royal Mint and announced by the Home Office in 1938 the terms of its issue, the first being in 'Sterling Silver'.
