French Second Empire Officers Gorget

Original period manufacture. Elegant gilded brass gorget with a silver eagle clutching a bundle of lightening bolts in its talons. Blue wool covered reverse, displaying normal age and wear. Often described as worn by officers of the Imperial Guard.
