Japanese WWII Army Officers Katana, Hanger & Knot

Original era manufacture. Polished steel blade measuring 33 inches in length, visible temper line, no nicks in the cutting edge, and the point is quite sharp. There are no corrosion issues with the blade, however there are scattered areas of clouding and spotting visible. The blade tang is not signed. Decorative, cast brass guard, original wrapped grip, with a fish skin underlay and two brass menuki. There are two mounting holes in the grip, only one of them has its original wooden peg. Cast brass pommel cap, with an original, company grade officer, sword knot, which is held in place by a cloth loop.Dark olive green painted steel scabbard with brown painted brass decoration. Attached to the suspension ring, is black leather strap, which is backed in blue wool, at the end is the unique Japanese style suspension ring.A very nice vintage looking sword that didn't sit in a closet during WWII.
