Its goal was to raise loyal followers of National Socialism, emphasizing discipline, obedience, and patriotism.The organization offered activities such as sports, marches, camps, and ceremonies, all within an ideological framework.Most members came from NSB families.Although the NJS was formally independent, it was in practice closely influenced and controlled by the NSB.During the German occupation, the NJS became more active, though it remained relatively small compared to similar organizations in Germany. Opgericht in 1934 naar voorbeeld van de Hitlerjugend, richtte de NJS zich op jongens en meisjes tussen de 10 en 18 jaar. Het doel was om hen op te voeden tot trouwe aanhangers van het nationaalsocialisme, met nadruk op discipline, gehoorzaamheid en vaderlandsliefde. De organisatie bood activiteiten als sport, marsen, kampen en ceremonieën, maar altijd in een ideologisch kader. Leden kwamen meestal uit NSB-gezinnen. Hoewel de NJS formeel zelfstandig was, stond ze in de praktijk nauw onder invloed van de NSB. Tijdens de bezetting werd de NJS actiever, maar bleef relatief klein vergeleken met soortgelijke organisaties in Duitsland. Na de bevrijding in 1945 werd de Nationale Jeugdstorm verboden en opgeheven.
