Description

Original German army field tunic for a Major in the Artillery. Tunic is made of feldgrau wool, similar to that of the enlisted men with a reasonably rough finish compared to many officers who preferred garbadine. Period sewn collar tabs and shoulder boards present with a very neatly reapplied bullion breast eagle. Both collar hooks are present along with all of the buttons. Award loops present for three awards and a ribbon bar or clasp. All loops are in good condition and hood awards well. Inside the jacket is an artificial silk liner with pinstripe arms. No makers label or name label is present. On the left sleeve an outline of a Narvik shield can be seen. Clearly at some point this was removed from the jacket. No moth nips or repairs present anywhere on the jacket. A really top tier piece.*Please note the three breast awards and ribbon bar are for display purposes only and are not included in the sale.*
