Description
These Nederlandsche Arbeidsdienst cufflinks are in good condition and were produced by Royal Begeer in Voorschoten during World War II.A unique set for the Dutch collaboration or NAD collection!Nederlandsche Arbeidsdienst (NAD)The Nederlandsche Arbeidsdienst (Dutch Labour Service) was a paramilitary organization established during the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II. Modeled after the German Reichsarbeitsdienst, the NAD was officially intended to 're-educate' Dutch youth in discipline, obedience, and a strong work ethic. In reality, it served primarily as a tool for Nazi indoctrination.Initially a voluntary program, participation later became mandatory in some cases—especially for unemployed young men or those trying to avoid forced labor in Germany (Arbeitseinsatz).Members wore uniforms, lived in camps, and performed physical labor such as land reclamation, dike construction, and forestry work. After the liberation in 1945, the NAD was immediately disbanded, and involvement in the organization was considered a form of collaboration.Article number: 15549
