Description

German Navy High Seas Fleet Badge (Flottenkriegsabzeichen)-This badge is constructed of gilded and silvered zinc. The obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, and topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika. This fronts a powerful depiction of a battleship cutting through waves. This displays the characteristics of the known Variant #2, such as the presence of the center gun on the lower turret. On the reverse there is a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch. The pin and catch retain its original finish. This example is unmarked. This example has all of its finish lost except for the light traces remaining in the lowest details. This is a handsome badge with strong details. Overall, this is very good condition.
