Description
This Nederlandsche Unie pennant is in good used condition and features the Dutch lion on both sides.Dimensions: 36 x 21 cm.Nederlandsche UnieThe Dutch Union was a political movement founded in July 1940, shortly after the German occupation of the Netherlands. Its founders – Louis Einthoven, Jan de Quay, and Hans Linthorst Homan – aimed to offer a broadly supported alternative to both the NSB and the traditional party system. The Union sought national unity, moral restoration, and the preservation of Dutch identity, without open confrontation with the occupiers. Although the movement opposed extremism and racism, it tried to operate within the boundaries of the occupation. Due to its moderate course, the Union quickly grew to around 800,000 members, but was banned by the Germans in December 1941. To this day, the Dutch Union remains a topic of debate because of its stance toward the occupiers.Article number: 15600
