Description

A scarce original 1949 -1952 officer pattern 'Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps bi-metal collar badge'; King George VI crowned wreath bearing 'Sub cruce Candida' (Under the White Cross) scrolls, the Dannebrog lettered 'A' for Alexandra to the centre, with an applied white metal 'Q.A.R.A.N.C' title below. Good condition, complete with original two loop fittings, minor service wear.Height approx 33mm.State Registered Nurses were granted officer status in 1904 but did not receive regular commissions until QARANC was formed in 1949. A year later other ranks were recruited.
