GVR 1st type WW1 Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) & 1914-15 TrioTo- 278158.SJT.C.H.BOYLE.R.G.A (DCM)3158.A-BMBR.C.H.BOYLE.R.G.A (1914-15 Star)SR-3158.B.Q.M.SJT.C.H.BOYLE.R.A (WW1 Pair)Charles.H.Boyle from kingston Hill first landed in France 17-3-1915 & was awarded the DCM in the London gazette 1-1-1918 for services in France whilst attached to X35th trench mortar battery with the following citation.For conspicuous gallantry & devotion to duty, While firing in support of an infantry attack, his trench mortars were very heavily shelled by the enemy. When two gun pits were blown in he cleared them & got the mortars into action again, and continued to fire with the greatest success. He showed splendid coolness & courage on this & many other occasions.He was discharged to the class Z army reserve 3-3-1919.NEF & Mounted as worn. The 1914-15 star has been gilded / gold plated.
