A scarce original circa 1940 period patriotic silver badge in the form of a Crowned shield bearing Danish flag, with monogram 'CX (Christian X King of Denmark) to the centre, dated below 1870 1940, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'GJ' (Georg Jensen Denmark). Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel ftting, no damage to the enamel, minimal service wear.Height approx 24mm.Born on the 26 September 1870, Charlottenlund, Denmark, Christian X King of Denmark reigned from 14 May 1912 to 20 April 1947'. In April 1940 the German invasion saw brief military skirmishes, while the Danish resistance movement was active from 1943 until the German surrender in May 1945.
