Description
Interesting and beautiful M40 steel helmet, must have been a army single decal in my opinion. Was camouflaged using a thick layer of tan paint mixed with rough wood chips, resulting in a nice textured camouflage helmet and then spray painted with red and green colors making it a so called three tone 'Normandy' camouflage helmet. Shell shows remains of 'white wash', a chalck mixed white camouflage paint that could be washed away after a winter offensive, this always leaves traces around the vent holes and split pins, and in this case between the wood chips as well. The helmet is complete with its original liner in good condition, dated 1940. Draw string and chin strap (tip broken) are both present. Maker marked by EF64 lot number 491. Named to Feldwebel Mallon.
