Deactivated Kongsberg Krag–Jørgensen 'Nb 1944'

An extreme rarity - a WWII era manufactured 6.5x55mm calibre Krag–Jørgensen rifle that was produced in German occupied Norway by the renown Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk factory.We have never, and indeed could not find any reference to another example of the so-called 'Nazi Krag' in the UK!Despite the Krag-Jørgensen's increasing obsolescence by the time, the German desperation for more rifles during 1943 led to the request of the Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk to begin a special limited production run of Krag-Jørgensen rifles that would be adapted to their own specifications. These specifications were for the rifle to match, as closely as possible, the standard K98k service rifle - with features such as accepting a K98k bayonet etc.Indeed these would actually prove to be the very last military spec examples of the long-running Krag rifle ever to be produced!Also nicknamed the 'Stomperud', there is plenty more research and information available from multiple sources to be found online regarding these highly interesting, illusive and sought after military rifles.This particular example still retains the original blued finish and full matching numbers to every major part, including the wooden stock! Indeed only the rear sight is non-matching - a common occurance when such smaller ancillary parts were utilised in their production from earlier production runs.This rifle is from the second of three small production runs by Kongsberg, denoted by the 'Nb' suffix before the low serial number. Despite being of late-war production during 1944, the sheer number of Waffenamt proof markings applied to these rifles (including on the stock) is staggering.It all makes for truly superb example, ideal for any serious collector of deactivated WW2 German small arms to add to their collection - and one that you are almost certainly never going to see offered for sale again here in the UK!Deactivated with full moving/cycling bolt and trigger etc to the latest EU/UK specification; complete with certificate.*N.B.
