Army Medical Service Corps Officers Cap Badge - Possibly Sudanese

Available
£250.00

Description

A die cast cap badge of some quality of gilt brass with two original loops to the reverse (one slightly bent). Circa 45mm tall. The text on the bottom of the badge in the image is presumed to be 'الْسِّلَاحُ الطِّبِّيُّ', which translates from Arabic to 'Medical Corps'. The badge shows a serpent coiled around a staff (known as the Rod of Asclepius, a symbol widely used in medical organization), topped by the head of a Rhino. Rare. Does not appear in my standard reference books. Thank you to Barry for the possible attribution to Sudan. Any further information welcome.Comm JoPa
