These aluminium swords always look great as in most cases they have survived, looking almost like new! This one is the same and has 100% of the anodised gilded swastikas on the large pommel and also the crossguard. Luftwaffe blue leather grip is near perfect with twin twisted 'springy' aluminium wire wrap. The scabbard leather is beautiful and has no wear or damage to it whatsoever! The original crescent leather hanger is attached to the upper scabbard rings. The blade is a nickel plated type and apart from a couple of old finger smudges is in near mint condition. There are matching issue numbers, 248, stamped to the blade and scabbsrd throat. This would mean that this sword was 'owned' by the squadron quartermaster and issued to an officer for parades etc. This sword is made by FA HELBEIG Steinbach and their trademark is etched into the blade riccasso.
