WW1 British RFC/RAF Sidcot Flying Suit

Sold
£1350.00

Description

A super example of the rare early RFC/RAF Sidcot suit .Named after their designer Sidney Cotton This suit was initially a private purchase item but became as here with this example, a government supplied garment . The suit was sealed as pattern 9686 on 10th December 1917 .The garment was such a success the Air ministry by 10 May 1918 were to start replacing the leather garment with it from then on . Size wise this suit would fit a modern mannequin and thus would make the basis of a superb display piece . There are a few small service snags/stains and one or two buttons missing + some fade that in fact give this set the perfect 'Look' of an everyday working set. there is some loss to the pelt of the fur applied collar however overall a super item .
