WW1 Pair & GVIR 1st type Special Constabulary Faithful service medalTo- CAPT.J.D.STOBART (WW1 Pair)& JAMES.D.STOBART (Special Constabulary)James Douglas Stobart was born in 1884 & attended Oxford University. He was the spare man for the 1904 Oxford crew & the Oxford V Cambridge university boat race. He was commissioned in to the Hampshire Yeomanry in WW1 & served overseas with them both before & after they became the 15th battalion of the Hampshire Regiment. He was discharged at the wars end & did not apply for the issue of his campaign medals until 1928 whilst living in Sussex. He passed away at Wyatts farm, Sussex in 1970 & when his estate was valued for probate it was valued at £97261.NEF & Mounted on a bar as worn. Complete with copy officers service papers, MIC details, Medal roll details, copy image of the recipient from the boat race crew photograph & other basic details.
