US Civil War M1864 Infantry Cartridge Box, Replica SNY Plate

Original era manufacture. Purchased out of an old New York collection is this original M1864 Union cartridge box with a stamped US oval on the flap. At some point in the past someone installed what we feel to be a replica SNY box plate, with a new flap closure strap as well. The pouch has both of its original tins, with both suspension buckles at the bottom. The underside of the interior flap which covers the cartridge tins displays staining from lead, so evidently at one time the pouch was used to carry ammunition.
