A large well made theatre made cast brass example with two original loops. In very good condition.Raised in 1942 from Southern India, the Coorgs were recruited to form a garrison battalion as the newly raised 1st Coorg Battalion. Like the 71st Coorg Rifles before it, the new battalion had a badge incorporating crossed Coorg knives (PEECHAEKATHI).
