Original period manufacture. A clean example featuring a 31 inch polished steel blade, with etched panels on each side of the blade and a floral etched design on the spine, no.44 stamped into the bottom edge of the ricasso . Runs fairly straight and true, minor age staining with a few nail catcher nicks, more felt than seen. Heavy gilded brass guard with a lion head pommel with red glass eyes. Fish skin wrapped grip bound with triple strand wire. Polished steel scabbard, fairly dent free, minor age staining. The makers mark is very difficult to make out as it is very lightly and incompletely struck. With some effort with my magnifying glass and the Arizona sun, I was able to make out the letters of W.K.C. at the bottom of the markings.
