Original era manufacture. Instituted by Napoleon I in 1802, and awarded to this day. This isa5th class example from the time of Napoleon II.Silver cross and crownl with enamel decoration,with gold discs on obverse and reverse, displaying the profile of Napoleon I on the front.Typical scattered enamel damage, but nothing severe, and to be expected in a decoration of this age. During the Crimean Wararound seven hundred British soldiers and sailors were awarded the Legion of Honor.
