Luftwaffe M40 SD Camouflaged Helmet

Luftwaffe M40 Single Decal 'Turtle' Camouflage Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its two-tone yellow/green coloured turtle camouflage pattern overpaint, a Luftwaffe decal is clearly visible beneath the paint, the decal has probably been dug out. There is some rust along the edges of the shell. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is a M31 leather liner with all eight fingers intact and the original liner cord is present as well, there are some minor damages to the liner, see photos. The shell is marked with maker and size 'Q64'. 'Q' is indicating production by the company of 'F.W. Quist, G.m.b.H.' in Esslingen. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number 'R053'. A faint NCO's (Uffz.) name has been painted in the reverse interior neck guard apron.
