WH (Heer) Gebirgsjäger Cap Badge

WH (Heer) Mountain Trooper's Cap Badge (Mützen Abzeichen für Gebirgsjäger). On 2 May 1939 the 'Oberkommando des Heeres' authorized wear of a distinctive 'Edelweiß' tradition badge for Mountain Troop personnel and the design of the badge was based on a pattern worn by German Alpine troops in World War 1. This is an early aluminum-type cap-badge for wear on the left side of the mountain cap. The badge is showing the famous 'Edelweiß' flower. The badge is nicely maker marked with 'F&B' indicating production by the company of 'Funcke & Brüninghaus' from Lüdenscheid. Nice example in good used condition!
