U-boat War Badge 'GWL'

Kriegsmarine U-Boat War Badge (U-boot-Kriegsabzeichen). The U-Boat War Badge was instituted by Oberbefehlshaber der Kriegsmarine und Großadmiral: 'Erich Raeder' on 13 october 1939 for award to all ranks of U-Boat personnel who had served on at least two sorties against the enemy or were wounded in action. The badge is made of 'Zink', the badge still retains a fair amount of its original bronze finish, there is one minor dent in the eagle's wing. The badge is nicely maker marked with 'GWL' indicating production by the company of the 'Gebrüder Wegerhoff' from Lüdenscheid'. The pin & catch are of course fully functional. Nice original badge in very good condition!
