Description

Matching K98 Combat Bayonet with Frog (Seitengewehr 98K mit Seitengewehrtasche). The K98 bayonet was a standard issue item and was accompanied by a bayonet frog to be worn on the reverse left side of the load carrying waist belt. The K98 bayonet remained the standard issue bayonet through-out the war with minor manufacturing variations. The bayonet and scabberd are both marked with serial-number '37700, 189' and maker marked with 'bym' indicating production by the Austrian manufacturer 'Machinenhaus Ferlach'. This company used an unusual serial number system, this company only produced a small number of bayonets during the war. This is one of the harder to find manufacturer's. The bayonet is 1941 dated. The blade is in very good condition, the bayonet is having bakelite grips. The bayonet comes together with its original leather frog as found together, the frog is nicely 'R.B.0/.750/5368' marked. Extremely rare and hard to find original matching Austrian made bayonet in very good condition!
