French Second Empire, Officers Private Purchase Shako, 'Afrique'

Original era manufacture. From our own collection, is this private purchase officers rigid body kepi, or shako, in red wool with a blue wool band.White cloth rank piping for a second lieutenant, with a decorative quatrefoil on the crown. Bound black leather visor with a green covered underside, wide black leather sweatband, with a black oilcloth covered interior.The shako measures 4.75 inches in height at the front, and at the rear, 6 inches. The body is not crushed or broken, and no moth damage to mention. I ran out of room in a display cabinet during a recent re-model of the collecting room, something had to go.
