French WWI Era, Foreign Legion Field Grade Officers Kepi, Commandant (Major)

Original era manufacture. Fine quality, early tall style kepi in doeskin wool. Silver wire trim for the rank of Commandant, or Major. Red wool top with a sky blue wool band, silver brocade wire chinstrap. Black leather visor with a bound edge, black silk lining with a black leather sweatband decorated with a thin white silk ribbon. Looks to be some mouse nibblings on one spot of the sweatband, with a few very small moth bites in the cloth, minor staining, with some thread loosening of the silver wire trim. Otherwise a very sound old hat.
