Description
Original German WWII Kriegsmarine Administrative Officer's Belt With Buckle-This is an authentic WWII-era Kriegsmarine Administrative Officer's belt, complete with its original buckle and two lion-head adornments. The buckle is crafted from silver-gilt aluminum and features a striking anchor motif encircled by a high-relief laurel wreath. Compact in size, the buckle measures 38.8 mm and retains the majority of its original finish, with only minor spots of corrosion present. While there are no visible manufacturer markings, a faint ink-stamped size marking remains. The buckle includes one attached keeper, as well as a second keeper with dual prongs designed to secure the buckle to a web or woven belt. The belt itself is constructed of navy-blue ribbed material with a felt backing and includes a leather adjustment tab with multiple holes.Interestingly, this belt was repurposed by a U.S. WWII veteran as a 'Hate Belt', a practice more commonly seen during WWI by affixing enemy medals to it. These medals have since been removed and likely sold separately, but the holes from their attachment remain permanently. While similar belts in undamaged condition typically command around $400, the presence of the holes affects the value. Nevertheless, this is a visually striking and historically significant piece—an elegant addition to any WWII or German Kriegsmarine collection or display.
