Available
£6250.00

Description

An extremely early Army dagger having the benefit of a slant grip and a genuine Damascus blade.Pommel is the 14 leaf variety without damage and shows much hand enhancement. Pumpkin coloured grip is the desirable slanted groove version which has deepened to a very dark orange/red. A period portepee remains in the correct tie about the grip Ferrule has artificial aging remaining within the grooves as does the early crossguard which has fine detailing remaining to the eagle's chest and wing feathering. Eagles head has a pronounced eye area and crisp beak. A brown leather washer remains beneath the crossguard. At the heart of the dagger is a genuine Damascus forged blade having a pronounced 'D' on the tang. No damage to edges, or to the needle point tip.Scabbard has a small dent to the reverse with much age darkening and toning which would clean, if that were the taste of the new owner. Scabbard throat is retained by screws on each side of the upper scabbard area. These appear unturned.Rare opportunity to obtain a very early non maker marked Damascus Army dagger.
