Description
Original German WWII Land Customs Official Dagger By Clemen & Jung-This is an authentic German WWII Land Customs Official dagger, produced by the renowned maker Clemen & Jung, Solingen. These ceremonial daggers were introduced in 1937 for officials serving in the Landzoll (Land Customs Service), a division responsible for border security, immigration enforcement, and customs tax collection. Unlike other military branches, the Land Customs Service was relatively small, resulting in limited dagger production. Manufacture of these daggers ceased in 1942.Handle (Grip, Crossguard & Pommel):The leather-wrapped grip is fully intact and tightly bound with twisted silver wire. The aluminum eagle with swastika in wreath crossguard retains sharp, well-defined details. The aluminum pommel also features crisp detailing, though it does have some light dirt/tarnish in the crevices.Blade:The blade remains in excellent condition, retaining its original factory polish and shine. It is marked near the ricasso with the stamped manufacturer's name 'Clemen & Jung, Solingen' on the obverse. Some light gray spotting on the blade is present, consistent with age, but overall the blade is exceptionally well-preserved. It is marked on the reverse with the shield having a Z inside. The original blade washer is missing within the crossguard recess.Scabbard:Due to poor storage and handling, the green leather covered scabbard is in need of professional restoration. Please refer to photos for further details. The scabbard mounts are the steel type, which we believe are nickle plated, do have some very minor/very small surface rust spots and still have the screws still in place.Overall this is in good to very good condition.
