Original German WWII Heer Dagger With PortepeeBy Carl Eickhorn-This exceptional WWII German Army officer's dagger, manufactured by Carl Eickhorn, remains in outstanding condition, featuring a matching pommel, guard, and ferrule with well-preserved details and an attractive patina.The grip has a beautiful light orange hue, retaining its original color throughout. The scabbard, also by Eickhorn, exhibits a fine matching patina, with well-defined pebbling on the panels and sharp detailing on the bands. The silvering remains intact, and the silhouette of the crossguard's eagle and swastika is clearly visible. The thick throat is secured by a center screw on the reverse.The blade is bright, displaying its original crossgrain and a precise, needle-like tip. While minor graying is present, the blade remains in excellent condition. The reverse ricasso is crisply stamped with the Eickhorn squirrel trademark (depicting the squirrel looking over its shoulder), used between 1941 and 1942. The original brown leather blade buffer is still intact.Attached to the hilt in its proper, textbook tie is an original aluminum portepee. It remains firmly set in place and does not appear to have been removed. The portepee is in excellent to mint condition.A superb example of an Eickhorn Heer officer's dagger, complete with its original portepee—an outstanding piece for any collection.
