Original 1st Pattern Tropical Canvas Kriegsmarine (Navy) Pith Helmet Size 58-German WWII pith helmets were primarily worn by theAfrika Korps in North Africaand theKriegsmarine in the Mediterranean, designed to shield soldiers from the intense sun and desert heat.Thisslightly used Kriegsmarine tropical pith helmetfeatures atan canvas constructionwithbrown leather trimand amatching leather chinstrap. Theleather liner bandis clearly marked with themanufacturer's logo,size 58, anddated 1941on the inside. The helmet has aminor deformity, likely from prolonged pressure on a specific area.It is adorned withan aluminum Kriegsmarine gold eagle shield on the left sideand aTri-Color National shield on the right. While thesemetal Kriegsmarine shields are not original to the helmet, they areperiod-dated 1941.Despitelight service wear, thisoriginal 1st Pattern tropical helmetremains ingood to very good condition—a solid addition to any WWII collection.
