It retains the majority of itsfactory-applied Luftwaffe blue textured paint, with only minor surface scratches throughout. Thesplit pinsstill hold a good amount of factory paint, though some chipping is present.The2nd Model Luftwaffe decalremains approximately75% intact, with wear visible on the eagle's body, claws, and part of the swastika. Internally, the helmet retains much of itsoriginal Luftwaffe gray-blue paint. Theleather liner, though unmarked, issize 58, supple, and invery good to excellent condition, showing only minor wear. The originaldrawstring is still present, but the helmet does not include a chinstrap.Overall, thiscombat-worn M40 Luftwaffe helmetremains invery good to excellent condition, making it a desirable piece for collectors.
