Original Pre-WWII Early Heer M18 Double Decal Transitional Late War Reissued HelmetAn original Pre-WWII M18 helmet and refurbished with decals. A few years later the helmet was repainted and the decals were painted over, but newHeer & Tri-colordecals were applied. You can see the decals under the decals. During the wartime years the decals were completely covered over with a textured fieldgray paint. Someone after the war most likely took some paint remover to uncover the decals. The original non-reinforced aluminum liner is original to the helmet and is maker marked on one of the tongues and has a size 62 on the stamp. Some of the original chinstrap and hardware remains. A large dent is in the front of the helmet. A rare helmet with a lot of history.
