TheDéfense Passivewas a French civil defense organization established under German authority, responsible for organizing air raid shelters and protecting cities and industrial sites from bombings.This blue armband was issued forSingle Shelter Commandpersonnel betweenJuly 1940 and August 1944. It is made from a lightweight blue fabric, with 'Défense Passive' and 'D.P.' printed or stamped in black ink on the front. Additionally, the armband features both aFrench issue stampand aGerman 'Dienststempel' authorization stamp, confirming its official use under the occupation government.The back of the armband has abuckle closure, a standard feature for this type. The buckle is textbook correct and is marked'Paris.'This example is inexcellent, unissued condition, with no holes, stains, or discoloration—only extremely minor age toning from storage.
