Description

Original Imperial German WWI Gold Wound Badge-Instituted in 1918, the Imperial German Wound Badge was awarded to recognize soldiers wounded in battle. The design on the front displays a WWI style Imperial helmet as the main centerpiece. The Wound Badges came in three different types of grades representing the amount, or severity, of wounds received. The first grade, the Black Wound Badge was awarded for 1 to 2 wounds received in combat. The Silver Grade was awarded for 3 to 4 wounds, and finally the Gold Grade for 5 or more wounds, total disability, or death.This authentic badge retains approximately 95% original gold paint. The pin and hinge remain intact and in excellent working condition. Overall, this piece is in outstanding condition.
