Description
Original German WWII 7x50 Binoculars (Dienstglas) Marked 'beh' (Ernst Leitz) With Black Presstoff Case Dated 1944-This is a set of original German WWII 7x50 Dienstglas binoculars manufactured by Ernst Leitz, Wetzlar. The binoculars are marked 'beh' (Leitz's wartime manufacturer code) and feature the '+' symbol, indicating production circa 1942. They retain traces of the original textured black finish, though they appear to have been overpainted in black post-war. The plastic eye cups are intact with no chips or cracks.Optics are excellent and include the right-side reticle (rangefinder scale), typical for this model. The binoculars come fitted with a wartime leather neck strap and a leather button flap, also marked 'beh' and dated 1944.The accompanying black Presstoff case is in very good condition, showing moderate wear consistent with field use. It has a tear on the leather belt loop and light surface wear overall. The case is faintly marked 'ksd,' dated 1944, and bears a Waffenamt acceptance stamp. It features the correct pull-down tab on the closure clasp. The shoulder strap is a repurposed original gas mask container strap, which is damaged at one end but field-repaired with cotton thread.Overall, this is a fine, complete wartime example with matching period components and excellent optics.
