Description
Original Japanese WWII Model 30 Arisaka Rifle Bayonet With Hooked Quillon Cross Guard & Scabbard-This is an authentic Japanese WWII Model 30 Arisaka bayonet, designed for the Type 30 rifle and also compatible with both the Type 38 and Type 99 rifles. Produced from 1897 through the end of World War II, these bayonets feature the distinctive hooked quillon cross guard, fullered blade, and 'bird's head' pommel.Blade:The 40cm blade retains much of its original factory blued finish, showing wear consistent with age. It is marked on the ricasso and stamped with a serial number on the pommel. The three-sided cloverleaf mark is associated with three different bayonet makers. The mark depicts a stack of four cannonballs viewed from above. Three well known makers wereTokyo Hohei Kosho (Tokyo Army Arsenal) 1898–23,Tokyo Rikugun Zoheisho (Tokyo Army Ministry Armory) 1923–35, andKokura Rikugun Zoheisho (Kokura Army Ministry Armory) 1935–45.The blade was not fully polished at the factory—likely a wartime measure to reduce costs or accelerate production—and is sharpened approximately three-quarters of the way down.Handle and Cross Guard:The steel components show light wear to the bluing but remain in excellent condition overall. The hooked quillon cross guard is intact. The wooden grips display light aging and wear, but remain solid and well-preserved.Scabbard:Includes the original metal scabbard, which shows typical signs of use and age, including 2 small dents (one on each side of the scabbard). The finish remains mostly intact.Condition:Overall, both the bayonet and scabbard are in very good condition. They appear to be a matching set, showing consistent wear and patina.
