WW2 Era German Panzer Assault Badge.

Sold
£175.00

Description

A very good quality WW2 issued panzer assault badge in silver classIntroduced in December 1939, the Panzer Badge was authorized to be awarded to tank crews who had actively participated in three armoured assaults on different days. From 31 December 1942 armoured unit repair teams could receive the silver badge for repairing tanks in combat conditions on three different days. So an hard earned award. This one is a later war issue, and it is unmarked. It has a good hinge and a long strap fitting to the pin hook catch, which is the style favoured by Steinhauer & Lück of Lüdenscheid. It is made of solid white metal and very high quality with terrific detail. It is in excellent condition with some signs of wear to the high points and the top of the pin looks like it has been repaired. It has been hard soldered so it was probably a wartime fix.
