Double Decal M38 FJ Helmet

Sold
$13200.00 β€”

Description

One of the hardest helmets to find nowadays, this M38 double D is ET71, Heat lot #4534 and shows substantial service use and age toning, and (all indications) wartime replacement of shinstrap system. The liner itself and all the rivets are the original issue and fully intact, showing no post-war tampering. The decals show use and wear, as does the overall finish, but the helmet is fully intact and a great example. I believe some of the age toning and yellowing to the finish. Is the result of an old Polish or varnish? That had been applied to it at some time in the distant past. The heat lot number is commensurate with the black liner pads, and the liner has 'that smell' of old rubber. There is a small, very old repair to the top. Overall, a highly collectible, rare example for the FJ collection. COA accompanies.
