French Ca 1830, Cased Officer Epaulettes

Sold
$225.00

Description

Original era manufacture. A near new condition pair of French officer, or official's shoulder epaulettes in their original box of issue.Silver wire embroidery, with the unique form of French rank, displaying fringe on only one of the boards, which I believe indicates a Junior officer, about a 1st Lieutenant. Red wool underlay with the retailers paper tag on the underside of each, which matches the name on the top of the cardboard storage box. There is a silver button at the end of each epaulette, displaying a rooster, and the motto'Liberte, Ordre Public'.An online source states that this motto was favored by Napoleon 1st, and done away with by his successor Louis-Philippe after his ascension to power in 1830.Minimal age and wear, just a beautiful set of near 200 year old epaulettes.
