Post Era Manufacture. A nicely broken in example of a Federal issue Civil War forage cap, worn and manufactured during the Civil War Centennial, 1961-1965.Dark blue wool top, with numbers and letters designating the re-enactment unit to be the 5thNew Hampshire Volunteers, with an Infantry Bugle insignia which is quite probably an original. New Hampshire buttons secure the black leather chinstrap. Maker marked W. Stokes Kirk, Philadelphia on the lining. Nice and salty, a testimony to the time the wearer spent in Living History events back in the day. Size about a 7 3/8.
