WW2 British 'Cruise' Visor MK2 Helmet
Ships from: United Kingdom
The very rare and desirable MK2 helmet configured with the shortlived Cruise III model visor .Named after its inventor Sir Richard Cruise who had already designed at least two other models and variations during the Great war. Cruise had served with the Royal Army medical Corps as a specialist Opthalmic Surgeon in WW1 and in private practice had worked for the royal household .The risk of blindness came to the attention of the Army medical council and designs were sought . This WW2 version unlike previous Great war versions was of Aircraft grade alloy and did not utilise chainmail like its predecessors. The project was soon shelved thus surviving examples are now very hard to find. This is an excellent early wartime version with much of the factory rough paint finish and a good 1939 dated liner . The visor is very good with nice function to the hinged mechanism . There are a few areas of rubbing to the allow however much of the deep bronze red/brown chemical finish remains .A very rare helmet.
