Portuguese M1886 Bayonet, Austrian Mfg by Steyr

Original period manufacture. Austrian manufactured bayonet by Steyr, for the 1886 Kropatschek rifle. Bright finished yataghan blade, with matching finish to the guard and pommel. Original finish wooden grips, with blue steel scabbard. A very clean example of a bayonet, which back in the mid-1970's was once offered for sale with the rifle for $9.95. The ad appeared on the rear cover of the Shotgun News, the 'Rare and Mysterious Kropatschek'. Certainly tongue in cheek advertising.
