Danish M1867 Rolling Block Bayonet, Weyersburg Mfg.

Sold
$185.00

Description

Original period manufacture. Imposing yataghan pattern blade of good German steel, with a nice luster on the surface. There are scattered areas of minor staining but no corrosion issues. Weyersburg name on the reverse ricasso. Pressed black leather grips, polished steel guard and pommel. Unbroken black leather bodied scabbard with sound stitching. Two creases in the leather, but no breaks. Back in the 1950's & 60's when you visited your local Army-Navy Surplus store, wonderful old bayonets like this would be arrayed in barrels for sale. Imported after WWII from the forgotten arsenals of old Europe. Prices were exceedingly modest by comparison with today, but remember a gallon of gas was 25 cents; yet dimes, quarters and half dollars were still minted in silver.
