German WWII Aluminum Kochgeschirr, WWE 40

Original period manufacture. Aluminum pot and lid with a movable steel bale folding handle. Dark olive green paint finish in good repair. Clear makers marks on the hinge, WWE 40, overall it appears to have not been used. At some point in time the messkit had an interior pot added, perhaps during the DDR era. I remember in the early 1990's purchasing a number of original WWII messkits that came out of the former DDR, each wrapped in their original packaging, Ritter marked.
