German WWII Heer 'Old Style' Officer's Field Cap, Panzer Piping, Erel Mfg
Ships from: United States
Original period manufacture. One of my all-time favorite examples of WWII German army headgear, the 'Old Style' officers field cap, piped in Panzer pink and made by the well-known firm of Erel. The hat displays little actual use, in fact the original factory size tag remains sewn inside the sweatband. No staining to the sweatband from wear with the silver paint EREL name and patent info remaining very clear. Further, the black painted leather visor does not show any evidence of being folded or rolled as these were designed to do. Since the hat was an out-of-style pattern, it perhaps sat on a dealer's shelf during WWII, remaining in near unused condition to this day. However it did see some attention from our old nemesis Mr. Moth. The largest portion of this attention was directed to the feldgrau wool top and sides, with a few bites in the pink piping for good measure. Someone recognized the value of this rare hat and took pains to perform some quality repairs to the moth damage making it blend nicely with the remainder of the hat. Original sewn flatwire eagle and wreath. What a great hat.
