British 18th Century Land Pattern Socket Bayonet, Unit Marked

Original period manufacture. All steel construction with a four inch socket and a near 16 inch blade, 23 mm opening at the muzzle. On the socket is an interesting heart-shaped makers or unit mark consisting of the numbers and letters 4 E I C. Sound condition, light surface corrosion only.
